Tablets
Amdine AT

It is a dihydropyridine Ca antagonist with a long duration of action used for the treatment of hypertension and angina pectoris. It inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into the cardiac muscle and smooth muscle.

It is a relatively cardio selective β-andrenoceptor blocking agent without membrane stabilizing or intrinsic sympathomimetic  activities. Following oral doses of 50 or 100 mg both β-blocking and antihypertensive effects persists for at least 24 hrs because of higher lipid solubility.

Hypertension, angina including chronic stable and vasospastic types.

 Hypertension angina pectoris, myocardial infarction.

 5-10 mg once a day.

 Adults: 50-100 mg daily

Sinus bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, anuria or known hypersensitivity reaction to Atenolol and/or nifedipine ( in case of combinations).  Hypersensitivity.

 Liver disease.
Paediatrics:  Not recommended
Pregnancy: Unsafe
Lactation: Unsafe To be used if clearly indicated.

Renal impairment, pregnancy, diabetes, untreated cardiac failure, sudden withdrawn may exacerbate angina pectoris and may precipitate myocardial infarction. Anaesthetic agents may further cause depression of myocardial contractility.
Paediatrics: Not recommended.
Pregnancy: No risk factor.
Lactation: Present in breast milk.
Elderly: No special problem.

Headache, fatigue, somnolence, dizziness, flushing, palpitations, nausea, peripheral oedema and abdominal pain.

Bradycardia, cold extremities, leg pain, dizziness, tiredness, fatigue and lethargy, skin rashes and/or dry eyes.

With verapamil precipitation of heart failure. Simultaneous withdrawn of Atenolol and Clonidine result in rebound hypertension. Indomethacin reduces antihypertensive effect.

Potentiates effects of thiazide diuretics and ACE inhibitors.
