Candibiotic Ear Drops (Chloramphenicol/Beclomethasone Dipropionate/Clotrimazole/Lignocaine HCL) treat ear infections by relieving inflammation and targeting the bacteria and fungi responsible for symptoms. It can also relieve pain by functioning as a local anesthetic. Four separate medical components each exhibiting its own unique effects are combined to make this otic solution. Chloramphenicol is an antimicrobial agent that is classified as a broad spectrum antibiotic. It is widely used for bacterial ear canal infections. This ingredient is said to exhibit bacteriostatic activity, and its mechanism of action involves affecting amino acids and blocking protein synthesis, thereby stopping bacterial growth.
Clotrimazole is type of broad spectrum antifungal with both fungicidal and fungostatic properties. Medical research pointed to its ability to trigger the leaking of phosphorus compounds within the fungal cells. This in turn leads to the breakdown of the cell walls. As a result of this, the fungi are unable survive, which helps to clear up fungal ear infections. Otitis media and externa are also characterized by swelling affecting the eustachian tube or other local areas of the ear. Beclomethasone is a topical anti-inflammatory corticosteroid which works inside the ear to reduce swelling. This is achieved by affecting the immune and inflammatory response.
Lignocaine (also spelled Lidocaine) is commonly applied topically for its strong local anesthetic properties. It has been proven to reduce pain in the auditory canal in patients affected by acute ear infections, and for this reason it has become popular in the management of pain caused by ear infections. By acting on the neuronal membrane, it can affect the conduction of pain impulses, thereby relieving local pain. These ear drops can help to eliminate fungi and bacteria while also relieving the inflammation and pain which is common in ear infections.
